doom

Lost Souls are floating, aggressive demonic skulls that were first introduced in Doom's second episode, The Shores of Hell, but can be seen as early as E1M1 on the PlayStation and Saturn ports of the game where they can be spawned by a Pain Elemental hidden in a secret corridor.

Doom II made additional use of the Lost Soul by utilizing it as the projectile attack of the new Pain Elemental monster. The Doom manual gives this description of Lost Souls: "Dumb. Tough. Flies. On fire. 'Nuff said."

Notes

Doom RPG

In Doom RPG, the Lost Soul appears as a class of monster. There are three variations, identified by color:

Lost Souls can move three panels in a single turn instead of one, and will attack automatically once they are in an adjacent panel to the player, even if it has already moved. It attacks three times consecutively and can be damaged by the fire extinguisher.

Fortnite Battle Royale

Lost Souls appears as part of an equippable skydiving contrail called Fall to Their Doom, one of several Doom-themed cosmetics available during the first season of the fourth chapter of Fortnite Battle Royale.

Mighty Doom

Lost Souls appear as enemies in Mighty Doom. They can constantly fly around rapidly in a straight line, bouncing off walls as they go. They attempt to ram the Slayer on contact for melee damage, and it is possible for them to float around more idly and take a more targeted shot at the Slayer. They are weak against ballistic weapons, but certain Lost Souls summoned by certain bosses may be vulnerable to toxic, ice or plasma weapons. As Lost Souls disintegrate on death, they cannot be Glory Killed.

The boss version of the Lost Soul can attempt to ram the Slayer, and summon other Lost Souls. It is usually susceptible to toxic weapons, but there is at least one of them that is susceptible to ice weapons.
