A Boney (also known as Living Dead by UAC researchers) is a class of Zombie found in Doom 3. They are naked, emaciated zombies who emit guttural growls and moans, generally found in Hell. In the BFG Edition they are only found in Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission as their appearance in the original Doom 3's Hell level was cut.

Combat characteristics

Boneys behave identically to other Zombies. They will shamble towards the player in an attempt to claw them. However, they move much more slow than the most basic Zombies, but they possess slightly more health and their clawing attacks do much more damage.

Tactical Analysis

As they are very slow and are often found within reasonably open spaces, the player in most cases, should not struggle when it comes to facing Boneys. The worst threat they can pose is that they will usually hide a corner to surprise an unexpecting player from behind. As their extremely slow movement will rarely give them opportunity to land a hit, it is best to check your surroundings when you are aware of their presence as Boneys usually come in groups.

UAC Research Notes

These notes can be downloaded to the player's PDA during the course of the game:

Specimen 42 - Living Dead (partial)

Able to function without recognizable brain activity, this creature has little regard for self-preservation. Though slow moving, its behavior is aggressive and tenacious.
